Relationship therapy in Colorado: not just talking about it, actually working through it.

Therapy for Colorado residents · Steamboat Springs, Summit County & virtual
Many of my clients are insightful, capable people. They may look like they’re holding everything together on the outside, while inside they feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, lost, or disconnected. Here, you don’t have to hold it all together. You’ll have a safe place to set the weight down, feel less alone, and begin to heal.
What I help with
- Breakup and heartbreak, when you can’t stop replaying it. Breakup and heartbreak therapy
- Divorce, while you’re going through it or rebuilding after. Divorce therapy
- Relationship trauma and betrayal, after a relationship that broke your trust. Relationship trauma and betrayal therapy
- Repeating relationship patterns, when you’re still looking for your person and keep ending up in the same place. Stop repeating relationship patterns
- The family pain underneath, from growing up with addiction, chaos, criticism, or parents who weren’t emotionally there.
- Anxiety, low mood, anger, or shutting down, when it keeps showing up in your relationships.
Most relationship struggles aren’t random. We’re often drawn to what feels familiar, not what’s actually healthy. Your relationship with yourself is also the foundation for every other relationship in your life.
How relationship therapy with me works
Healing here is not about analyzing your life from a distance. It’s about experiencing real change in how you relate to yourself, your emotions, and your relationships, healing all of you: body, mind, heart, and soul. There is a structure, but we also work with whatever comes up in the moment.
- Getting to know you, and how you got here. We look at how you’re wired, the family you grew up in, and the moments that shaped you. Tools like a temperament sorter, a family map, and a life timeline help the pattern come into view.
- Actually working through it. We work through the grief, anger, shame, and fear that have been sitting with you. This is where people start to feel calmer and lighter. Anger work is one of my favorite parts of what I do.
- Living it differently. You start catching patterns as they happen, setting boundaries, and choosing relationships that are actually good for you. You stop reacting and start choosing.
A lot of this work is experiential. That just means we don’t only talk about what happened. We work with what you’re feeling, right there in the session. I practice Gestalt therapy, an experiential, present-focused approach that helps you become more aware of your thoughts, feelings, and patterns so you can make more authentic, aligned choices.

Where sessions happen
- In person in Steamboat Springs and Summit County (Silverthorne/Frisco): 90-minute sessions. We’ll begin our first session somewhere private and comfortable, like a library meeting room or a coworking space, so we can get familiar with each other and make a plan. From there, the weather and your preference decide whether we meet at the library, a coworking space, or outdoors, on a trail or in open space. Private pay.
- Virtually, anywhere in Colorado: 60-minute sessions by secure video.
- Health First Colorado (Medicaid): Accepted for therapy, by video anywhere in Colorado or in person in Summit County and Steamboat Springs, in sessions of up to 60 minutes.
- With horses. Ever wondered how horses help people heal? Ask about equine-partnered sessions.
Who therapy is for
Therapy is licensed mental health care with me as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). It’s for adults who live in Colorado. It’s the right fit when what you’re carrying is affecting your sleep, your work, or your relationships, or when it involves trauma, depression, anxiety, or old family pain.
This work may not be the right fit if you’re looking for quick fixes or someone to tell you what to do, or if you need crisis stabilization or high-acuity clinical care. If that’s where you are, I’ll do my best to connect you with someone who can help.
Prefer to work on this alongside others? See groups, workshops and retreats.
Not sure where to start? We’ll figure it out together on your free call.
You don’t have to do this alone
If you’re feeling stuck in the same emotional or relationship patterns, exhausted from holding everything together, or unsure how to reconnect with yourself after everything you’ve been through, we can talk.
A free 15-minute video consultation is a space to slow down, briefly talk through what’s going on, and see if working together feels like a good fit. You don’t need to have everything figured out to start here. You just need to be ready for something different. No pressure. No commitment.
Frequently asked questions
Do you take insurance?
I accept Health First Colorado (Medicaid) for therapy. For other insurance, I’m out of network. I provide superbills, and through my partnership with Mentaya, the claim can be submitted to your insurance for you, so you may be reimbursed through your out-of-network benefits. Fees, insurance and Medicaid
Do I have to live in Colorado?
Yes. I’m licensed in Colorado, so therapy is for people who are located in Colorado during our sessions.
What happens in the first session?
We talk about what brought you in, what you’ve already tried, and what you want to be different. You don’t need to have the words for it yet. We’ll start where you are.
What does a session feel like?
A session with me feels like stepping into a space where you can finally exhale. There’s room for all of you (your anger, grief, confusion, and longing) without needing to tidy it up or make it make sense right away.
It’s both grounding and alive. We slow things down, get curious about what’s really happening beneath the surface, and gently bring awareness to the patterns, emotions, and parts of you that are asking to be seen. At the same time, there’s movement: moments of insight, release, even unexpected lightness or humor.
You’re not analyzed or “fixed.” You’re met. You’re challenged when it matters, supported when it’s hard, and guided back to yourself, so you leave feeling clearer, more connected, and more like you again.
How long will I need to come?
It varies. Some people come for a handful of sessions to move through a specific transition. Others stay longer to work on deeper patterns and make the changes last. We’ll check in regularly and adjust as you grow.
Do I need to be fit to do outdoor sessions?
Not at all. Nature-based sessions are not about physical challenge or endurance. They’re about presence. We move at a pace that works for your body. Whether that’s a gentle walk, sitting on a bench in a park, or simply standing in an open space, what matters is that you feel at ease.
Is it private to have therapy outdoors?
We choose quieter trails and times, and we’ll talk ahead of time about what to do if we pass other people. You decide what feels comfortable.
What if the weather turns?
We can decide together if we’ll meet indoors, at the library or a coworking space, or move to virtual, keeping safety the number one priority. Colorado weather can be unpredictable, and flexibility is built into how I work.
